Tēnā koutou katoa,
100 kānuka have been delivered to Tieke, and planting is under way. It's a first step towards restoring the ngahere and the native species that once thrived around the kāinga.
There are good signs already. Kiwi footprints have been seen at Tieke, a reminder of why this mahi matters.
What's next
Pest control is the next focus, including possums, deer and other predators. Five whānau were supported to attend DOC predator trapping training this year, and we'll share more training opportunities with whānau as they come up.
If you'd like to help with planting or trapping, get in touch.
Ngā mihi maioha,
